(1983)
To debunk the Amityville house's infamous reputation and take advantage of a rock-bottom asking price, skeptical journalist John Baxter buys the place and settles in to write his first novel.

This installment was released in 3D, with several scenes designed to emphasize objects moving toward the audience. It is the third film in the Amityville series but takes a different approach by focusing on a skeptic protagonist.
The supernatural imagery and atmospheric identity make it a sustained collector draw — specific visual icons and tonal signature carry their horror identity across any format.
Directed by Richard Fleischer, Amityville 3-D was produced during the early 1980s trend of 3D filmmaking. The film received largely negative reviews, with critics citing weak storytelling and overreliance on 3D gimmicks. Over time, it has become a lesser-regarded but still notable entry in the Amityville franchise.
