Gordon's smallest-scale film is also one of his most charming — killer dolls in an English manor, executed with genuine practical craft and an unusual warmth toward its child protagonist. The fairy-tale tone and the puppet work give it a distinct identity within 80s horror.
Produced on a modest budget, Dolls relied heavily on practical effects and creative puppetry. Dolls received mixed reviews upon release but has since gained a cult following.
