A caretaker at a summer camp is burned when a prank goes tragically wrong. After several years of intensive treatment at hospital, he is released back into society, albeit missing some social skills. What follows is a bloody killing spree with the caretaker making his way back to his old stomping ground to confront one of the youths that accidentally burned him.







The Burning received mixed reviews but has since become a cult favorite, especially for its effects and atmosphere. Its special effects were created by Tom Savini, who returned after missing Friday the 13th Part 2. A genuine touchstone of the slasher genre.
Slasher credentials rest on the specificity of the threat and period production atmosphere — both translate directly into collector value for theatrical materials, home video releases, and any props or production documentation.
Directed by Tony Maylam and produced by Harvey Weinstein, the film was shot in New York. The Burning received mixed reviews but has since become a cult favorite, especially for its effects and atmosphere.
