(1981)
After failing to kill stubborn survivor Laurie and taking a bullet or six from former psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis, Michael Myers has followed Laurie to the Haddonfield Memorial Hospital, where she's been admitted for Myers' attempt on her life. The institution proves to be particularly suited to serial killers, however, as Myers cuts, stabs and slashes his way through hospital staff to reach his favorite victim.
Laurie Strode: Jamie Lee Curtis
Dr. Sam Loomis: Donald Pleasence
Sheriff Leigh Brackett: Charles Cyphers
Graham: Jeffrey Kramer
Jimmy Lloyd: Lance GuestHalloween II picks up immediately after the events of the first film, following Laurie Strode as she is taken to a hospital while Michael Myers continues his pursuit. The largely empty hospital setting creates a tense and claustrophobic atmosphere as Laurie fights to survive.
John Carpenter co-wrote and produced the film but did not direct it. The sequel introduced the twist that Laurie is Michael’s sister, which became central to later entries in the franchise.
Directed by Rick Rosenthal, the film was shot primarily in a hospital set. Carpenter’s involvement ensured continuity in tone, though the sequel featured more explicit violence than the original.
Halloween II was a commercial success, though critics were divided. It remains a key part of the franchise and is often viewed as a direct continuation of the original.
