(1988)
Ten years after his original massacre, the invalid Michael Myers awakens on Halloween Eve and returns to Haddonfield to kill his seven-year-old niece.

The film marked the return of the franchise after the standalone approach of Halloween III. It introduced the character of Jamie Lloyd, played by Danielle Harris.
Michael Myers returning after six years drew strong box office, and Donald Pleasence's Dr. Loomis gave the film genre credibility. The mask design debate and the film's role in reviving the franchise give it historical significance within the series that pure horror mechanics don't fully account for.
Directed by Dwight H. The film received mixed reviews but was a commercial success. It helped reestablish the franchise and led to further sequels.
