Overview and Horror Legacy

A polished Canadian slasher known for its elaborate kill set pieces and misleading mystery structure. It gained notoriety for pushing violence boundaries while still operating within teen-slasher conventions. Over time, it became a cult favorite among fans of structured whodunit horror.

Collector Market and Memorabilia

Collectors value its inventive kill sequences, especially those built around everyday objects turned lethal. The film’s graduation-party imagery and masked killer reveal structure make it visually and narratively distinctive on VHS shelves. Its cover art is especially prized in slasher-era physical media collecting.

Cult Status

Directed by J. Lee Thompson, it was part of the early-80s slasher wave responding to the success of Friday the 13th. Despite censorship challenges in some regions, it maintained a strong cult following through home video distribution.
